After a 1yr off the track because of injury Kcaysha Medas-King was able to come back and regain the #1 spot, not only in New York, but also in Region one. With Region’s 1 championship concluded yesterday at the Ichan Stadium, Kcaysha Medas-King placed 2nd in the 100m in a personal best (pb) 13.12 , first in the 200m in a pb of 26.73 and again winning the 400m in a time of 1:01 sec.
The young and talented Kcaysha after achieving the feat said that hard work really pays off. Kcaysha said, “Last year when my dad/coach said to me I am going to take you out for the rest of the season I felt like the whole world was crushing down on me.” She further said, “I could have never understand why he would do such a thing but he told me be humble trust his judgment and heal properly then come back next year.” The young Medas-King went onto say, “That one year flew by so fast, is like I missed nothing.”
The next meet for Kcaysha is the Hershey’s National Junior Olympic Championship in North Carolina Greensboro where she will come up against the best in the country (USA) for the bragging rights to see who the best in the country is.
Andy Medas-King her coach and father said, “With 10 days away from the biggest and largest track meet in the USA, all we are catering for is to make it to the finals I will have to talk to her and hear what it is she would like to achieve then adjust the training accordingly. From the tender age of six Kcaysha have shown the ability to be consistent and have won many awards and championship making her one of New York City’s top athletes.”
